Kutztown Area Patriot - Wearing fluorescent orange vests, 107 sixth graders from Kutztown Middle School collected trash along the Saucony Creek Tuesday morning.
Being the first day of Spring, March 20, sixth grade teacher Shelby Brett organized the school’s first litter clean up both along the trail and along Constitution Blvd.
“It was really the kids’ idea,” said Brett.
Madison Piles, 12, said she enjoyed helping the community by picking up litter to help the fish and wildlife stay safe and healthy. She was concerned about the safety of people walking along the trail, considering if someone stepped on a broken bottle.
